Designed for those with little knowledge or practical experience of working with sheet lead the Leadworker Certificate comprises of 4 modules of training progressing to the advanced Module 5 Decorative Leadwork and Casting.
If you have completed the City & Guilds 6055 Leadworker Certificate or are part way through and you would like to obtain a NVQ Level 2 in Metal Roofing,(lead and or hard metal) look at the On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) route or contact the Lead Training Centre to discuss your personal circumstances.
For the experienced leadworkers OSAT is probably the best route to gain the NVQ. It is a way of qualifying on the job and it is ideal if you who have the experience, skills and job knowledge, but not the qualifications to prove it.
It identifies gaps in skills and ability levels and focuses the training accordingly and as it is carried out on site it is easier for employees whom reading and writing if difficult. Working with an appointed assessor the relevant evidence is compiled into a portfolio and presented for assessment and internal verification prior to certification.
On completion of the relevant health and safety test, candidates can then apply for the CSCS Specialist Leadworker card.
For the very first time the industry will have a two-year apprenticeship programme for lead sheet. Designed to be delivered by a mix of formal instruction off-job, followed by supervised on-job training with a final end assessment.
The trainee will gain experience through off the job training sessions at the Lead Sheet Association (LSA) training centre, but the scheme provides flexibility through on the job training elements to suit the employer whilst delivering the NVQ Level 2 over a 2-year training period. Attendance at the (LSA) training centre is also flexible, either one day per week or block release. On completion of the relevant health and safety test you can then apply for the CSCS Specialist Leadworker card.
Funding is available for the OSAT and SAP programmes, but please make contact with the LSA training centre to discuss your personal circumstances.
