Taster Days
The cost for the Taster Session is £49.95.
Designed for those who are considering a career in the plumbing industry.
Your day will include: -
- The course content of the City & Guilds 6129 22 Basic Technical Certificate in Plumbing Level 2.
- A tour of the Technical and Training Centre where you will meet staff and answer any questions.
- The opportunity to practice pipe bending, lead welding and bossing skills using hand tools and oxy-acetylene welding equipment.
The Taster Sessions take place on the first Saturday every month from 9.00am to 12.30pm.
Intensive Plumbing Course
Course Fee: £450.00
Duration: 4 days, 9am – 4pm,
Learn the skills and to maintain domestic plumbing and heating in a purpose built environment that allows you to “get to grips” with the practical tasks.
As part of the Intensive Plumbing Course you will learn how to:
- Use basic plumbing tools and fittings
- Connect pipe with a selection of fittings (copper, speed-fit, compression, male-iron, plastic glue type)
- Change a ball valve, tap washer and install a ball-o-fix
- Turn off the domestic water supply, fix a burst pipe and lag pipes
- Change bathroom / kitchen taps and fit an outside tap
- Maintain stop, gate and radiator valves
- Learn how to change a radiator and remove air from a central heating system
- Learn how to change a hot water cylinder and how to remove and install a new bathroom suite.
The size of the group will be no more than 5 so everyone’s individual needs can be nurtured.

City & Guilds 6089
NVQ Level 2 Plumbing Course
Course Fee: £1995.00.
To achieve the NVQ Level 2, you need to have gained the City & Guilds 6129 – 22 Basic Technical Certificate Plumbing Level 2.
As a work based qualification you need to be working as a plumber and demonstrate your ability to carry out a broad range of plumbing skills in the workplace.
Your skills, knowledge and ability will be assessed whilst you are carrying out various jobs at site.
Assessment will be across 5 tasks over a period of 4 – 6 months and Students will need to demonstrate their competence in the following mandated areas: -
- Maintaining a safe working environment.
- Maintaining effective working relationships.
- Contributing to improvement of the work environment.
- Install non-complex plumbing systems and components.
- Decommissioning non-complex plumbing systems.
- Maintain non-complex plumbing systems and components.
The skills that need to be demonstrated are also included in the City & Guilds 6129 – 22 Basic Technical Certificate Plumbing Level 2.
With this and the assessments for the NVQ being added to your portfolio you will be awarded
your NVQ Level 2.

Basic Technical Certificate Plumbing Level 2

Course Fee: £5995.00
Course Length: Full Time - 12 Weeks, 5 days per week.
: Part Time - 20 Weeks, 3 days per week.
: Flexible – 18 month period to fit your commitments.
Structured to give you the underpinning knowledge and understanding to complete a Level 2 NVQ, you will complete exams in the following subjects:-
- Safety in Plumbing Activities
- Key Plumbing Principles
- Common Plumbing Processes
- Cold Water Systems
- Domestic Hot Water Systems
- Sanitation Systems
- Central heating Systems
- Electrical Supply & Earth Continuity
- Lead Sheet Weathering
- Environmental Awareness in Plumbing
- Effective Working Relationships in the Plumbing Industry.
Practical skills include:-
- Soldering, Lead dressing, Lead welding
- Cutting, installation and connection of copper, steel, plastic pipe fittings and lead sheet
- Use of Power Tools
- Installing Plumbing systems scaled and full size
- Installing a hot water storage cylinder and cistern
- Installing a bathroom suite
- Installing a set of chimney flashings
There are no hidden extra fees
Cost includes Classroom and Workshop Tuition, Overalls, Safety Footwear, JTL Plumbing Textbook, City & Guilds Registration & Exam Fees (including re-sits) and Materials (lead, copper, steel and plastic pipe fittings).
Additionally we provide; Business set-up advice and guidance to include commercial awareness, marketing, career advice and introductions to Plumbing Trade Merchants. After qualifying a 12 months Technical Support service. On successful completion the Course you may begin work as a self employed plumber or by gaining employment with a plumbing company.
